The George is a relaxed pub & restaurant with comfortable leather sofas, real ales and outstanding food, situated in the historic market town of Chichester.

Dating back to the early 18th century, The George stands next to the site of the original north walls gatehouse and is conveniently located just 500 yards from the Old Town Cross and Cathedral.

Offering good locally sourced food with a great choice of drinks served in a friendly atmosphere.

We do not have a car park but are across the road from the Northgate pay and display carpark.

The busy bar has the warm, friendly atmosphere of a ‘proper’ pub. There are open fires, numerous ales on hand pump and a carefully curated wine by the glass.

Our back bar boasts a great range of spirits, with 24 speciality gins. The open log fire warms and welcomes in the winter months and the decking garden beckons in the summer.

Dogs are welcome in the bar area but are not allowed in the inside dining areas (with the exception of guide dogs.)

Under 18years are not permitted in the bar area or garden after 8.30pm

We give our own take on British pub classic dishes making use of our great local produce, fish & meats.

Dishes are prepared passionately and imaginatively by our new head chef and his dedicated team.

We hand batter fresh fish, slow bake our meats and ribs and make our own sauces.

Our menu at The George comprises of great breakfasts, local fish dishes, gourmet smash burgers, pub classics and Sunday brunch.

Diners can enjoy the courtyard for alfresco dining in the warmer months.
